November Favourites & Blog Update

Hi guys!

So I realise that I’ve not posted in over a month, and there are multiple reasons for this – the main one being that I’m in my final year of university and I just have too much on. I am beginning to manage my time more effectively now though, and I will be posting regularly again!

I am happy to announce that I will be posting every day until Christmas with my beauty advent calendar, and I hope that this will make me focus on the blog more!

So, on to the November Favourites!

Makeup

I’ve not been wearing as much makeup recently – I haven’t left my room that much! However, I have bought a few new products that I love. The first is Maybelline’s Dream Matte Mousse foundation (£7.69) – I have been meaning to try this out for a while; I remember the old mousse eyeshadows that Maybelline used to make, and I loved those; this foundation did not disappoint! After loving Collection’s Speedy Highlighter (featured in my September Favourites), I decided to buy one of their Speedy Blushes (£3.99) in 2. Cheeky. I’m not much of a blush person, but this is really smooth and easy to blend, so I’ve worn it a bit this month. Finally, I bought an autumnal-coloured lip product – Revlon’s Colourburst Matte Balm (£7.99) in 225 Sultry. This is by far my star product of the month. It’s so moisturising, and the colour is amazing!

Hair

With the colder weather, I’ve started using my Umberto Giannini Overnight Beauty Moisture Balm hair mask (£6.00) again. I’ve used this for several years now, and I love how it moisturises my hair during the winter months.

Skincare

When I was in Boots recently, I picked up a Quick Fix Anti-Blemish Mud Mask facial (£4.99), as they were on offer. I really like how it works, and it made my skin feel really nice and smooth after using. My spots do seem to have gotten better since I used it as well – I’m looking forward to using it again!

Music

This month’s top album has been Sawdust by The Killers – it’s an old one, and possibly their least well-known, but I’ve really got back into it this month; my top songs are TranquilizeShadowplay and Under The Gun. My favourite song this month is Find The Pieces, which is actually a Minecraft-inspired song written by the YouTuber TryHardNinja, and the music video was animated by CaptainSparklez (watch it here).

Clothes

I was invited to a decades-themed birthday party this month, and I decided to go as 90s grunge. When I was looking through my wardrobe to find something to wear, I found my old torn Union Jack leggings from Crafted. I love these, and have started wearing them again now!

TV/Film/YouTube

Being at uni, I haven’t really been watching as much TV, although my friends and I are watching The Apprentice and Scream Queens. I have started re-watching Supernatural however (I love that show)! I’ve been to the cinema three times – to see SpectreMockingjay Part II and The Good Dinosaur; all great films! Again, I’ve still been watching a lot of YouTube, in particular Smosh Games and CaptainSparklez.

Hope you all have a beautiful day,

Halloween Playlist

Halloween Playlist

I’ve been running this blog for nearly two months now, and I haven’t really focused on my other love – music – at all. As the days are getting shorter, and the nights are getting spookier, I thought that it would be nice to do a post about the music that I listen to at Halloween. Obviously, everyone has a Christmas playlist, but I’m willing to bet that most people do not have a Halloween playlist (at least I’ve never met anyone else who loves spooky-themed music quite as much as me!). I love Halloween, and the music just makes it even better for me, so here we go with my playlist!

  • Kasabian – Ghostbusters (Cover)
  • Rocky Horror Picture Show – The Time Warp
  • The Cranberries – Zombie
  • Jen Titus – Oh Death
  • Warren Zevon – Werewolves of London
  • Marilyn Manson – This Is Halloween (Cover)
  • The Pretty Reckless – Zombie
  • AC/DC – Highway to Hell
  • Blue Öyster Cult – (Don’t Fear) The Reaper
  • Pop Evil – Deal With The Devil
  • Duran Duran – Hungry Like The Wolf
  • McFly – Transylvania
  • Styx – Renegade
  • Bon Jovi – Wanted Dead or Alive
  • Ministry – Everyday is Halloween
  • Oingo Boingo – Dead Man’s Party
  • Dead Kennedys – Halloween
  • Marilyn Manson – Tainted Love (Cover)
  • The Police – Every Breath You Take
  • Evanescence – Bring Me To Life
  • Talking Heads – Psycho Killer
  • TV On The Radio – Wolf Like Me
  • The White Stripes – Little Ghost
  • Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Heads Will Roll

I know there are many other songs that are related to Halloween, but these are my favourites – what songs do you listen to at this time of year?

Hope you all have a beautiful day,

September Favourites

September has been a great month – I’ve done loads, my blog has come on in leaps and bounds, and (for the most part) the weather has been great! I love the cool but sunny days, and the way the leaves are changing into amazing colours. I’m starting to get ready to go back to uni, but I’m not quite there yet! Here’s what I’ve been loving this month:

Makeup

So pretty much all of the makeup is stuff that I’ve bought this month – both of the products I bought in my Boots Mini-Haul have made it onto this list. The L’Oreal True Match Foundation is probably one of my favourite makeup products at the moment – I’m so glad that I went with this one! The colour is perfect, and the formula is exactly what I wanted; it’s lightweight and easy to blend – I will definitely be wearing this throughout autumn! The Collection Speedy Highlighter is brilliant – so creamy and lovely; the shimmer is great, and it lasts all day! Other than that the only standout product I’ve used this month is Benefit’s POREfessional Primer (£24.50). It may seem pricey, but it lasts forever – you only need to use a small pea-sized amount each time. I love it as it helps to smooth out my skin, and provides a base for foundation and powder to stick to.

Skincare

I mentioned this in my Skincare Routine post earlier this month, but I’ve really been loving Soap & Glory’s No Clogs Allowed weekly face-mask. My skin feels amazing – clean, soft and ready for anything – after I’ve used it, and I can’t wait until Monday evenings when I use it!

Fragrance

I don’t often wear perfume, but this month I started using my Marc Jacobs Dot (£49.50) again – I go through periods of using it, then forgetting about it, but I really love the fragrance, it’s exactly what I love (I’m not a huge fan of floral scents, but I still like it to be light). I will definitely be trying to remember to wear this more often in the future!

Music

This month’s top album has been Drones by Muse – although it’s not their best album, it’s still amazing! I love Psycho and Mercy, and it is my dream to see them live! My song of the month has been Shut Up and Dance by Walk The Moon – it’s a bit different to what I normally listen to, but I think it’s a great song that always makes me smile and sing along!

Clothes

I don’t often wear skirts, but I found this one in my wardrobe when looking for something to wear for my sister’s birthday. It’s from New Look, and I think I bought it last year. I really like it, and I think I might start wearing more skirts during this first term back at uni!

Book

I’ve finally started to get into the whole Game of Thrones thing – I’ve known about it for a long time, but I never had the time to read the books. Having just read the first one, I’m so excited to read the rest. It’s exactly the kind of book I love – fantasy with lots of violence and mystery!

TV/Film/YouTube

I’ve also been watching Game of Thrones season one as I was reading the book. The acting is amazing, and it does a really great job of bringing the book to life! Other than that I’ve only really been watching Motorsport and YouTube – I’ve watched so much WiiRikeToPray it’s ridiculous! They’re a group of four friends that play videogames together – I’ve watched lots of their LPs this month, and their MarioKart8 playthrough is great.

What have you loved this month?

Hope you all have a beautiful day,

August Favourites

August has been a lovely summery month (although that seems a distant memory to me as I am sat here writing this post on a rainy Bank Holiday Monday), and many of my favourites from the month reflect this.

Makeup

I’ve already mentioned a couple of these in My Everyday Look post, but I think that the MAC Lustre Lipstick in See Sheer and the Bourjois Maxi Delight Bronzer are very summery and I will continue wearing them occasionally to remind me of the sun! Another Bourjois product that I loved this month was their Little Round Pot Blusher in 74 Rose Ambré (£7.99) – I’m not usually a blusher girl, but this one is very natural and I love the colour, the only negative is that the brush it comes with is useless. Finally, I have been wearing Essie Nail Lacquer 88 Liquorice (£7.99) nearly every day this month – black is one of my favourite colours, and I feel that wearing it as a nail polish is a nice way to get it into a look as it goes with everything!

Music

The album I can’t stop listening to is Cavalier Youth by You Me At Six; I’ve loved them for years and this album is their best one yet, I particularly love ‘Fresh Start Fever’ – although that may be because of all the motorbikes in the music video! The song that I have played every day this month is ‘The Chain’ by Fleetwood Mac – I know it’s an old song, but it has one of the best bass lines ever written, and is the theme tune for Formula 1 on BBC (just another reason to love it!).

Clothes

My purchase of the month is my Nirvana t-shirt from H&M – I don’t normally buy clothes from there unless it’s for work, but I am a sucker for band t-shirts, and I’ve wanted a Nirvana one for ages. It was a bit of an impulse buy, but I love it!

Book

My book of the month is The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness. It’s been out for quite a few years now, and is the first in an amazing trilogy that I re-read this month. It’s dystopian fantasy meets science fiction – a frontier town full of men on an alien planet ready to set off and conquer the rest of the world. A really well-written and interesting read, although slightly terrifying in parts.

TV/Film

Other than the normal motorsport and Great British Bakeoff, this month I have been watching the new season of Ripper Street on BBC – it’s really good and much more intricate than the previous seasons; although it has been a long time since the last season aired, and there was no recap – so I can’t quite remember how everything ended before!

What have you loved this month?

Hope you all have a beautiful day (even if it’s raining!),
